On Sunday March 3rd a fearsome field of sporting shooters gathered to compete for the Hutt Valley Clay Target Club Compak Club Championship.

With many shooters having warmed up with the sub gauge competition on the day before, expectations were high!

After the first 50 targets Barry Mumford was looking pretty accomplished and had his nose in front with Eddie Ng and Terry Thomson close behind.

In the second 50 targets Brian Manton and Steve Anslow were able to muscle their way into the top four – but with over half the field scoring 40 or higher, the chasing pack weren’t able to push Barry and Eddie out of the top two spots.

Top score for the day went to Barry ‘Mr Consistent’ Mumford with a 45 and 45 for a total of 90. Well done Barry, a maiden title and on to the club Honours Board which is well deserved having put in some diligent practice across all disciplines recently, it was no surprise to see him post a great result 3 targets ahead of Eddie,

Barry took out 1st B Grade with Taranaki visitor Tony Jurisich 2nd and Tina Berkett 3rd with a creditable 80 for the day.  Eddie won 1st A Grade and back to back 2023/2024 wins, with Terry Thomson and Brian Manton 2nd and 3rd after a tense 3 way shoot off with Steve Anslow. Congratulations to Richard Millican with a return to the winners circle shooting 77 in C Grade ahead for Todd Bishop and Matt Pettengell and 2nd and 3rd.
