The first installment of the 2025 DTL club champs was contested today by 6 squads, with a notable contingent from Woodville plus visitors from Western Lake, Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay, we appreciate the support.
First up is what is the highly sought after blue riband event Single Rise.
Tim Anstey and Ben Jolly and took out B and C grades respectively, Ben with a well taken possible. A 4 way A grade shoot off with possibles from Dave Peck, Wayne Pym, Dennis Fryer and sporting shooter Eddie Ng resulted in Eddie prevailing from Dennis and Dave, well shot Eddie.
A grade Point score was won outright by Eddie on a possible 75 chased hard by Vinny Butcher on 74. B and C grades were taken out by wily Tim Anstey and up and comer Jacob Hepburn respectively, Jacob with a fine 72.
Handicap by distance featured a lengthy shot off between Eddie, Kim Bergeson, Jamie Cane and Vic Smith who qualified on 24’s, eventually Kim shooting with aplomb with Eddie chipping his way to second and veteran Jamie nabbing 3rd.
Single barrel had usual suspects Vinny A grade, Tom B grade and Dave Kershaw coming out on top in a back and forth duel with newbie Derek Sarnie for C grade.
Congrats to all winners and placegetters, it was a fine days sport, reflected in the camaraderie and fun had by all. Eddie joins a small Hutt Valley club who feature A grade club titles in the 3 disciplines ie skeet, sporting (compak) and now DTL, congratulations also.
